Lutte et Poésie emerged from a Brazilian Portuguese–French translation workshop held in Paris in September 2025. Over the course of three afternoons, we translated poems collectively, shared readings, and moved across languages.
In the middle of the workshop, a massive demonstration took over the city streets. Rather than disrupting our plans, we decided to join it: bringing poetry and protest together, we translated not only literary texts, but also chants, banners, and slogans encountered along the way. The result is this publication, where translation becomes a practice of encounter, collective creation, and resistance.
The translation workshop was proposed by Publication Studio São Paulo (BR) with Publication Studio Paris + @after.8.books (FR) and @slant_editions (FR).
A project by Publication Studio Métallos, an ephemeral publishing platform created as part of the Carte Blanche offered to Casa do Povo by the Festival d’Automne and the Maison des Métallos during the Brazil-France Season 2025.
